Thompson Bucks County Classic
The Thompson Bucks County Classic is one of the hardest two day races in America. The 112 mile road race is on Saturday and followed by a 50 mile criterium on Sunday. The race was also the last UCI event held in the US, so we knew everyone would be fighting to make a last impression before the seasons end. The race course on Saturday was held on a 14 mile circuit with several climbs and two screaming fast descents. The roads were all 1 or 2 lanes wide which made position an important role in the race. As they have done all year Gavi Epstein and Conor Mullervy were able to make the split on the 4th lap and they fought to stay with the leaders as the laps ticked down. A group of 10 made it off the front of the pack and they would stay away to contest the finish. Gavi and Conor both finished in the top 30 but were less than thrilled with their finish. The team entered the criterium with something to prove and rode like madmen. They were present in several breakaways and snapped up several primes. In the closing laps Gavi, Allan Rego, and Conor were all sitting in the top 20 and Gavi was able to secure 8th in a hard fought field sprint. Allan and Conor both finished in the top 20 and were happy with how the team raced. Criteriums have been one of the teams strongest disciplines this year and headed into the final USA Crits race in Las Vegas the team was looking stronger than ever.
